Welcome to the SAPUC Library mobile application, developed and operated by St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru, Karnataka, India ("we", "our", or "us").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store (collectively, the "App"). Please read this policy carefully. By downloading or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

We collect the following categories of information to provide library services:

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Account Registration: Full name, student/staff ID, class/department, date of birth, and email address when you register for a library account.
• Contact Information: Phone number and email address for notifications and communication.
• Profile Information: Profile photograph (optional) uploaded by you.
• Support Requests: Messages or information you provide when contacting library support.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Library Activity: Books borrowed, returned, reserved, and your borrowing history within the library system.
• App Usage Data: Features accessed, pages viewed, session duration, and crash/error reports for improving the App.
• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (non-personal), and app version for technical support purposes.
• Push Notification Tokens: To send you due-date reminders, renewal alerts, and library announcements.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your precise GPS location.
• We do not collect payment or financial information.
• We do not access your contacts, microphone, or camera beyond QR-code scanning.
• We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• College Administration: Borrowing records and membership details are accessible to authorised library staff and college administration for academic and administrative purposes only.
• Service Providers: We may share data with trusted technical partners (e.g., push notification services, cloud hosting) solely to operate the App. These parties are contractually bound to keep your information confidential.
• Legal Compliance: We may disclose information where required by law, court order, or governmental authority under applicable Indian law.
• Safety: If disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our students, staff, or the public.

Your data is stored on secure servers maintained by or on behalf of St Aloysius PU College. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption: All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
• Access Controls: Only authorised library personnel and administrators can access your personal data.
• Data Minimisation: We only collect data that is strictly necessary for library operations.
• Retention: Your data is retained only as long as you hold an active library membership. Upon graduation or account closure, data is archived for a maximum of 3 years as required for academic records, then securely deleted.

You may revoke optional permissions at any time via your device settings. Revoking required permissions may limit App functionality.

The SAPUC Library App is intended for use by students of St Aloysius PU College (typically aged 15–18) and faculty members. All student accounts are created under the supervision of the college and in accordance with applicable laws.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental or guardian consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at sapuclibrary@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data (subject to academic record retention requirements).
• Opt-out of Notifications: Disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or in-app preferences.
• Data Portability: Request your borrowing history in a machine-readable format.

The App may use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
• Notify registered users via the App or email for material changes.
• Post the updated policy at the same URL for at least 30 days before it takes effect.

Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
